GUILLERMO A. CALVO
Is Professor of Economics, International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. He was the former Chief Economist of the Inter-American Development Bank (2001-2006). He graduated with a Ph.D. from Yale in 1974.
His present positions include: Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER); and President of the International Economic Association until 2008. Honors include: Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship for 1980-1981, King Juan Carlos Prize in Economics in 2000;and fellow of the Econometric Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Economic Sciences (Argentina). In 2006 he was awarded the Carlos Diaz-Alejandro Prize.
He has testified before the U.S. Congress on dollarization and the 1994 Mexican crisis. |
